How We Site a Borehole: From Survey to Drill Point

The most expensive borehole is the one that comes up dry. Before we mobilise a rig, our hydrogeologists run a structured siting process to maximise the chance of a productive well.

1. Desk study

We review geological maps, existing borehole records, and satellite imagery to understand the likely aquifer and depth to water.

2. Geophysical survey

  • Vertical Electrical Sounding (VES) to profile resistivity
  • Electromagnetic profiling to trace fractures
  • Cross-referencing anomalies with the desk study

3. Marking the drill point

We mark the point with the best combination of expected yield, accessibility, and distance from contamination sources, then confirm access for the rig.
